Ohio scores 45 in 1st half of 52-10 blowout of Bowling Green

Led by Tuggle's 185, 3 TDs, Bobcats rush for 355 yards

ATHENS ? Playing for the first time in 18 days, Ohio ran up a huge halftime lead and blew out Bowling Green 52-10 on Saturday at Peden Stadium.

De?Montre Tuggle ran 15 times for 185 yards and three touchdowns, and the Bobcats (2-1) scored a first-half touchdown on special teams and then nearly on defense as well in the blowout of the short-handed Falcons, who had multiple players suspended this past week.

"I thought it was a complete ball game by really the offense, defense, special team units. everyone. Good plays by all three of those units," Ohio coach Frank Solich said. "Obviously, that's what it takes in order to continue to have success in this conference. It's good to see it materialize the way it did out there today."

Tuggle carries Ohio past Akron 24-10

Zips hang tough but lose 19th straight game

ATHENS ? After failing to put Akron away on multiple occasions, Ohio turned to De?Montre Tuggle to get the job done.

He carried the ball all nine plays of a 70-yard drive capped by his 1-yard touchdown run for the clinching touchdown of the Bobcats? 24-10 victory against the Zips on Tuesday night at Peden Stadium.

"We celebrate every win," Ohio coach Frank Solich said. "The other team wants to win, too. We celebrate every win. We also understand that we're making it hard on ourselves, and we've got to get some things changed, realistically, if we want to battle for a conference championship."

Akron came in on an 18-game losing streak and was pummeled by Ohio last season 52-3, but this one was not decided until Tuggle reached the end zone... <Read More>

Central Michigan holds off Ohio 30-27

Penalty kills late drive by the Bobcats

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. ? Central Michigan?s defense held late and the Chippewas open the season with a 30-27 victory against Ohio on Tuesday night at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Jarren Hampton's tackle for no game on fourth-and-1 gave the Bobcats possession with 2:10 remaining at their own 33-yard line, and Ohio moved inside the Central Michigan 30-yard line. A questionable holding penalty, though, negated a Kurtis Rourke run inside the 15. On fourth down, Troy Brown broke up a pass intended for Ryan Luerman to lock up the win for Central Michigan.

"I'm hoping that the mistakes that were made were correctable mistakes," Ohio coach Frank Solich said. "And I believe that will be true."

Ohio took the lead 27-20 at the start of the second half on... <Read More>
